Christmas at Gilwern School

What a musical start to the Christmas season. The choir have entertained right from the beginning of December. It started at the Royal Welsh Winter Fayre and despite the weather being against us we sang and spread the Christmas cheer.  Everyone felt Christmassy after the ‘Sing for Your Heart’ concert in the village, which prepared us for Gilwern’s Victorian Christmas Fayre.  I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came and supported the choir; the children love to share their singing with a supportive audience. Finally thank you to the children for their dedication to learning lines and songs in their own time, they put on three fabulous performances and I am extremely proud of them all. Well done Gilwern Choir – Mrs Edwards

Christmas Plays

Key stage 2 took to the stage to present the Nativity story in their own special way – they reminded us that Christmas is about the ones we care for and being together. The children enjoyed the upbeat, popular songs, delivering lines and performing with their friends. Thank you to parents for supporting all three performances and for the wonderful costumes. Christmas really is a magical time of year and it is the children at Gilwern that make it extra special – Nadolig Llawen – Mrs. Edwards

Foundation Phase children performed a heartwarming musical story called Ned's Christmas Discovery; the story of Ned the donkey, and his search for the true meaning of Christmas. As the timeless story of Christ's birth unfolds throughout the play, Neds questions are answered. The children delighted two packed audiences, with their enthusiasm and endearing personalities and the audience left with a smile on their faces and a song in their hearts.
